Has the holiday season left your wallet a bit lighter? When every penny counts this season, donations of gently used clothing and other unwanted items to Goodwill Industries of Denver can help put a little back in your wallet with an end-of-year tax write-off.
Thursday, Dec. 31, is expected to be the busiest donation day for Goodwill, thanks to the organization’s Procrastinator’s Delight year-end donation program, designed for procrastinators hoping to take advantage of year-end tax credits for donated goods.
“We’ll be extremely busy on New Year’s Eve because so many people will be helping others right here in our community benefit from education, job training and other Goodwill career services,” says Tim Welker, president and CEO of Goodwill Industries of Denver. “Every donation helps make the future a little brighter for thousands of individuals in our community. All our hard work on Dec. 31 will be worth it.”
The Procrastinator’s Delight program yields more than a tax deduction – it is also part of Goodwill’s movement to Do Some Good. The Do Some Good movement encourages everyone to play a role in giving an incredible gift of a hand up, not a handout. This type of hand-up gives those who rely on Goodwill for its education and career services receive the tools they need to support themselves and their families and plan for a brighter future.
With both the Procrastinator’s Delight program and the Do Some Good movement, revenues from donations support Goodwill’s services for people with disabilities and disadvantages such as welfare dependency, homelessness, and lack of education or work experience.
